The Pros and Cons of Signing up for a T-shirt Subscription Service

The rise of subscription-based businesses has touched almost every industry, from food delivery to cosmetics and has quite frankly started to turn budget conscious shoppers way off. One of the first additions to this growing trend is T-shirt subscription services. As with all subscription models, there are pros and cons to consider before taking the plunge.

I thought it would be helpful for you to read the pros and cons from someone who owns and operates  a tee subscription company.

For reference, this is me with my husband (who loves supporting me wearing my tee designs) and my youngest.

For larger companies, they probably care less about this than small businesses like ours but as a consumer I think it’s worth noting as you explore your options.

Cons of T-shirt Subscription Services:

1. Lack of Choice: You might not always love the T-shirt of the month, leading to potential accumulation of shirts you wear less.
2. Subscription Fatigue: With so many subscription services available, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with monthly charges and recurring deliveries.
3. Environmental Concerns: With regular shipments, there’s the potential for increased carbon footprint due to transportation, especially if the tees are shipped internationally. Plus, the packaging materials, if not eco-friendly, can contribute to environmental waste. 
4. Commitment: Some services have lengthy contract periods, making it hard to cancel if you change your mind. In our opinion subscriptions should be cancel anytime for any reason but we understand the reasons behind why a company may do this depending on the products.
5. Potential for Overconsumption: Receiving new shirts regularly can lead to an overloaded wardrobe, potentially exacerbating fast fashion issues.
